David Probert seals 33-1 treble after track survives inspection
Brighton survived an inspection before racing to the delight of jockey David Probert, who continued his best year by riding a 33-1 treble.
The second winner came courtesy of Pitchcombe in the first division of the 7f handicap. Trainer Patrick Chamings enjoyed an across-the-card double via Coco Bear in the 6f handicap at Leicester.
Chamings said: “I started off at Kingsclere and I know the jockeys well, we train only four miles from Kingsclere too. I've used Dave since he was an apprentice, so we've had a relationship for a long time. He's always ridden my horses whenever he's available.”
He added: “I think the main thing is he's dropped down the weights, which is the main reason he has been competitive.”
Chamings is operating at a £1 level-stakes profit of £43 this season and has won with four of his last five runners.
Useful Haggas prospect
Majalh ran out an easy four-length winner of the 7f novice. The son of Siyouni put his experience to good use under Dane O’Neill having been unplaced on his first two starts.
However, his task was made easier when the Mark Johnston-trained second favourite Whitefeathersfall unseated jockey Franny Norton on the way down to the start and was subsequently withdrawn.
