The old Kingsclere dream team of William Buick and Andrew Balding were celebrating after earning top jockey and trainer honours at Glorious Goodwood this week.

Buick, who gets married on Sunday, rode seven winners including the classy pair Suesa and Wonderful Tonight.

"It has been a good week," he said. "I knew I had some good rides coming into it, and it is always a week you look back on and think there are one or two races you would like to have a go at again, but it has been a great week. I'm really pleased, Suesa and Wonderful Tonight being the highlights."

The 33-year-old is to swap his silks for something more formal and added: "Now I have got to get my speech into my head – all week I have been focusing on my job, now I am going to focus on tomorrow! It should be a great day and [weighing-room colleague] James Doyle is my best man."

William Buick: on target with Wonderful Tonight, one of seven winners for the jockey during the week

Balding, who mentored Buick at the trainer's famed Hampshire yard, saddled five winners, punctuated by Alcohol Free, who landed Wednesday's Qatar Sussex Stakes, the meeting's feature.

"That's great," said Balding. "I thought we had a chance coming into today and we've had a couple of winners. We've targeted this meeting with the right horses. The ground suited most of them – it's been a good week.

"It was a special moment for us with Alcohol Free. She is a special filly and we really enjoyed it."
