Bryony Frost and Lucy Wadham team up for a winner with Game On For Glory

Bryony Frost maintained her focus to land the 2m mares' novice hurdle on Game On For Glory, despite the personal difficulties she has experienced during the disciplinary hearing into allegations she was the victim of bullying by fellow jockey Robbie Dunne.

Frost guided the Lucy Wadham-trained five-year-old to an effortless six-and-a-half-length victory on her hurdling debut, following on from the mare's win in a Warwick bumper on her previous start.

“She was perfect, especially for a novice and her first start over hurdles,” said Frost.

“You have to look after them in this ground, teaching them how to gallop and how to jump because a lot of them will never have jumped out of this sort of ground.

"If they'd gone any faster, they would have come home too slow and it would have been hard work for the babies. She's done it perfectly, I'm excited for her.”

When asked how she remains focused on performing on the course, she added: “To be honest with you, riding a horse. It's in my nature and it's the best and most enjoyable place I can be at any point in my day, I just love it.”

Big day for Davis

Katharine Davis celebrated her first victory as a trainer when Uberman surprised connections to land the 2m handicap chase.

The Reading based-trainer has held her licence since 2019 and sent out 51 runners before getting off the mark.

“I thought he’d run a nice race, but obviously we're a bit surprised that he won,” said winning rider Joe Anderson.

“He ran really well for his first time over fences. You only have to look at him, he's a big solid horse and we always thought chasing would be his game.”

The conditional jockey is also in the infancy of his career having ridden his first winner in the same season Davis started training. Since then he has had seven victories and is looking forward to a big winter for boss Emma Lavelle.

He added: “She’s got a lovely team in for the winter, fingers crossed I can get on a few of them. I'm getting a good few chances and plenty of support from people, which is helpful, and long may it continue.”

Nico sweet on Swapped

The Nicky Henderson-trained Swapped made amends for being beaten when favourite at Cheltenham in October by comfortably taking the 2m bumper.

“I didn’t lose any faith after Cheltenham,” said winning rider Nico de Boinville. “We always knew he was a nice horse and it was great to come and do that today.”

The four-year-old has clearly made an impression at Seven Barrows and there are bigger targets on the horizon.

The leading rider completed a double in the final race when the Ben Pauling-trained Mister Watson sprang a 50-1 shock in the 2m3½f handicap hurdle. Conditional jockey Luca Morgan had been booked to ride the seven-year-old before a late jockey change.
