Barrichello shines at Warwick after wind surgery 'revelation' for Donald McCain
Sunday: Warwick
Barrichello continued to leave behind the frustrations of last term for trainer Donald McCain after he battled to land his third success of the season.
The six-year-old was runner-up in five of his six starts last season but has flourished since wind surgery to claim his third win in four starts, holding off the fast-finishing Good Risk At All to win the 2m handicap hurdle.
"It just reminds me what a bad job I was making of him last year," McCain told Racing TV. "He was a nice horse but was second that many times.
"On his last run he looked like he had a wind problem, so we got it tidied up and obviously it just shows the difference it can make because he's been a revelation."
Barrichello was introduced at 33-1 for the County Hurdle on the final day of the Cheltenham Festival, while runner-up Good Risk At All was priced at 20-1 with Betfair after an impressive charge up the run-in to be denied by a neck.
Hot-favourite delivers
Saint Segal enhanced an already stellar start to his hurdling career after he cruised to victory at odds of 1-7 in the juvenile hurdle for Jane Williams.
The four-year-old made the leap up to Grade 1 company on just his second start under rules over Christmas when finishing second behind Porticello, and followed up the effort with a comfortable success back down in class under the trainer's son Chester Williams.
The three-length win bolstered his trainer's already impressive record at Warwick, where Williams has a strike rate of 46 per cent.
