Jockey Gavin Ryan was taken to hospital on Friday after a fall at Dundalk which led to the race being stopped and voided.

Ryan was unshipped from the Luke Comer-trained Guild in a nasty-looking incident near the beginning of the 1m4f handicap. Guild appeared to have clipped heels with another runner.

The contest was brought to an abrupt halt and voided as runners and riders were set to round the corner for the home straight on the second circuit.

Ryan, a 5lb claimer, was attended to by medics following the fall. Dr Antonia Lehane at Dundalk tweeted: "Gavin Ryan is fully conscious and talking. He is going to Drogheda Hospital for precautionary x-rays."

Ryan earlier steered Reverberation home by a short-head to bag the mile apprentice handicap in the opening race on the card.

The in-form rider also struck on his previous ride at Dundalk on the Donnacha O'Brien-trained Mythologic on March 13.

The remaining two races on the card went ahead as scheduled and the meeting proved profitable for favourite backers, with six of the seven contests landed by market principals.
