QEII hope Thikriyaat supplemented for Celebration Mile
Sir Michael Stoute's Glorious Goodwood winner Thikriyaat will have his Queen Elizabeth II Stakes credentials tested in Saturday's Doom Bar Celebration Mile after owner Sheikh Hamdan al Maktoum agreed to pay £10,000 to supplement the three-year-old to the field for the Group 2.
Thikriyaat has four wins and a second – in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot behind subsequent Group 1 winner Ribchester – to his name and earned quotes ranging from 14-1 to 20-1 for the Champions Day Group 1 after a half-length success in last month's Group 3 Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes.
That win at Goodwood came over Saturday's course and distance, and the son of Azamour will have to finish in the top three on his first run in a Group 2 to see a return on the supplementary fee.
