Today marks the tenth anniversary of Property Race Day

Property Race Day celebrates its tenth anniversary at Ascot today where organisers of the property industry event will aim to build on its success as a significant fundraiser for children's charities.

Nearly £1.5 million has been raised since it was established by the late Derek Lucie-Smith, who headed the Calvera Partnership which owned Paco Boy, and this year's beneficiaries will be LandAid, Sebastian's Action Trust, SOS Children's Villages and The Children's Trust.

Lucie-Smith, who died earlier this year, founded the race day after visiting an orphanage in Jamaica with his wife Louisa and after three years at Sandown the event had outgrown the facilities.
