Prix Jean Prat an option for Pinatubo as Appleby weighs up options
Last season's champion two-year-old Pinatubo could be given the chance to regain the winning thread in Deauville's Prix Jean Prat, the same route taken by Too Darn Hot after early-season reverses 12 months ago.
Trainer Charlie Appleby has begun building the son of Shamardal back up following his defeat to Palace Pier in the St James's Palace Stakes at Ascot, with the seven-furlong Group 1 on July 12 now being considered after two defeats over a mile.
"We've been very happy with the post-race condition of Pinatubo since his second at Royal Ascot and he did his first piece of work since then yesterday [Tuesday]," said Appleby. "Going forward he's entered in the Group 1 Jean Prat over seven furlongs at Deauville and we could drop him back in trip for that, although the Sussex Stakes remains another option."
