Priceless Blake leads home an Irish 1-2-3 at Nottingham
Priceless Blake (6-1) blasted out to make all and land the £100,000 Star Sports, Arc and LPS Derby final at Nottingham on Saturday.
He clocked 29.32sec, his best run in the competition and fastest of the night over the 500m course.
Paul Hennessy's dog led an Irish 1-2-3, chased home by sole bitch Ballymac Tas, who battled on to get to within half a length of the winner. Skywalker Logan was a head third after a slow break and early bend baulk, before he checked slightly going round the third turn, then running on well.
Favourite Magical Bale was fourth. He broke moderately, went up fast but was chopped off by the leader and then checked wide.
Droopys Expert and slow starting Clonbrien Prince were badly hampered there.
Hennessy said: "It's a dream come true for his owners Bryan and Kathleen Murphy. It's a super special moment, they must have been in the game some 30 or 40 years and they deserve it. They are proper, genuine people.
"We weren't sure until he went over the line in front - Tas gave us a bit of a fright - she got so close to us. He ran with his heart on his sleeve throughout the Derby."
Described as a dog "who walks like John Wayne" by Hennessy's wife Susan, he is seen as a 'summer dog' who improved for the good weather and getting to know Nottingham.
It was team Hennessy's second English Derby victory after Jaytee Jet obliged at Wimbledon in 2016.
Blake is now set to run in the Irish Derby.
