3.20 Newcastle

3.20 At The Races Rehearsal Handicap Chase (Listed) 4yo+ | 2m7f 91yds | ITV/ATR

This traditionally gruelling test is being run as the last race on a course that has seen snow, sleet and rain in the last 48 hours.

There is something about staying chases and the Grand National-winning jockey Liam Treadwell. The 31-year-old will partner up with trainer Venetia Williams in bidding for back-to-back Rehearsal wins after Otago Trail.

Treadwell said: "Otago Trail was my first winner back last year as well and it would be fabulous to win it again."

Eight has been a winning number

Four of the last eight runnings have gone to horses aged eight, last year and three in a row from 2007. Today's two contenders of that age are the 2015 winner Wakanda and Our Kaempfer.

What they say

Liam Treadwell, rider of Yala Enki
I wouldn't swap him for anything else in the race. He's a sound jumper and I will ride him slightly differently. He has been free-going in years gone by but is more settled and will look to take a lead off one or two and not do the hard work – it's a big ask to make all in these handicaps.

Charlie Longsdon, trainer of Our Kaempfer
He’s a grand horse and I think he found the good ground at Cheltenham and Aintree in the spring slightly quick for him so the soft ground will help and he is handicapped fairly.

Nicky Henderson, trainer of Beware The Bear
It’s his first run of the year. He’s definitely a stayer and handles easy ground, but heavy would worry me a bit.

Kerry Lee, trainer of Bishops Road
It looks a wide open race and I couldn't rule any horse out. I hope he is spot on and conditions won't be a problem – it was gruesome when he won the National Trial at Haydock so toughing it out isn't an issue.

Dan Skelton, trainer of Sam Red
The trip will be perfect and I like the idea of the track for him. It looks a good race for him and looks an open race.

Simon Waugh, trainer of Boric
It is a jump in grade no question but he deserves the chance. He hasn’t disgraced himself this season and has won a Highland National and finished second in the Durham National so we know he stays further and he will race with the pace and lift it if necessary to make his stamina count.

Micky Hammond, trainer of Dedigout
He is a lovely horse and we will learn a lot more about him and map a plan but he still has an engine and ability.
