How low can you go? If you can remember Poethlyn winning at 11-4 in 1919 then you've seen the whole entire evolution of the great race from what it was to what it is now.

It remains the greatest spectacle of our sport, but the prospect of Cloth Cap going off at 4-1 or shorter tells you all you need to know about the challenge the modern-day test presents.

It is not the lottery it once was. You only have to predict three or four balls these days, not all six, and punters have been pretty sure Cloth Cap will come out of the drum ever since he cruised around Kelso last month.
