Sunday: 2.26 Carlisle
Go North One Man Series Final Handicap Chase | 2m | 5yo+ | RTV

Sandy Thomson has already made his mark on Go North weekend and the trainer saddles Seemorelights in a bid to continue the stable's success. The topweight reached a peak RPR of 133 when second at Ayr in February, but was below that level in defeat at Kelso last time.

If this race were at Ayr he would probably be a shoo-in because Seemorelights has a love affair with the Ayrshire course and his five highest RPRs have come there. The problem is Ayr is a galloping, left-handed track and Carlisle is far more undulating, going the other way.

Testing ground also appears to be preferred and drying conditions might not be ideal for him.

Ground won't be an issue for Cenotice, who saw off one of his rivals, Treshnish, in a driving finish at Newcastle in January and Treshnish has a 1lb pull for the narrowest of nose margins.

The worry for Treshnish supporters is that he has since finished last of five at Sedgefield whereas Cenotice has continued his consistent run with places at Ludlow and Newcastle.

The final mention must go to likely favourite Wheelbahri, who is searching for a four-timer.

The Stuart Coltherd-trained eight-year-old is racing off a mark 20lb higher than for the first of his three wins, but he has improved 17lb in a short space of time judged on RPRs and remains lightly raced over fences. It would be a brave call to suggest he can't handle the rise.

What they say

Sandy Thomson, trainer of Seemorelights
We’re slightly concerned about the ground for him but a stiff two miles should play to his strengths. He has top weight but he's carried a lot of weight before. He was unsuited by the fences being omitted last time as he ran too free and didn't finish.

Jo Foster, trainer of Da Vinci Hand
Hopefully the ground is safe as he’s had leg issues in the past but it all depends how he takes to the track as his best form is at Catterick. The weight beat him last time and we are hoping he can bounce back, although it looks competitive.

Lucinda Russell, trainer of Lucky Flight
He’s running at Kelso on Saturday and we’ll see how he comes out of that before we decide if he runs but it’s a possibility.

Stuart Coltherd, trainer of Wheelbahri
He handled quicker ground than this at Catterick last time and I'm sure they’ll be putting plenty of water on to make it safe. He's very versatile having won at all types of tracks and we are expecting another big run in his bid for a four-timer.

Mike Smith, trainer of Fourth Of July
He’s 4lb out of the handicap but I reckon he has 6lb in hand off this mark so we thought we’d give it a go. He really wants 2m3f but we expect the stiff finish to play into his hands. It’s a great series and we are happy to support it.
