Turn the clock back 12 months and the apprentice-ridden Haqeeqy stole the show under 7lb claimer Benoit de la Sayette. A year on and the meeting again clashes with Dubai World Cup night and so, with most leading riders at Meydan, an apprentice takes centre stage once more.
Originally there were two apprentices on the two favourites because William Haggas had lined up 5lb claimer Adam Farragher for the mount on Mujtaba. But, after his unlucky fall which resulted in a broken foot on Friday, it's 7lb claimer Harry Davies who carries the flag for the youngsters on Modern News for Charlie Appleby.
