Frodon has masses in his favour - and he still represents value in Badger Beer

Down Royal's loss was Wincanton's gain earlier this week as Paul Nicholls rerouted Frodon from his intended repeat bid in the Grade 1 Ladbrokes Champion Chase to the 61st Badger Beer Handicap. This contest essentially revolves around the wellbeing of the three-time Grade 1 winner, whose presence has forced five horses to race from out of the weights.
Testing conditions at Down Royal and handicapping leniency dictated Nicholls' change of heart, and his stable stalwart has masses in his favour at Wincanton. The assessor dropped Frodon 6lb to 158 from his midfield finish in the Ultima Handicap Chase when he was last seen in March, but three miles one furlong around Cheltenham stretches him.
