Saturday: 4.00 Curragh
Paddy Power Scurry Handicap | 6½f | 3yo+ | RTE1/RTV

Verhoyen, who won this race in 2019, will attempt to regain the crown that he won so tenaciously two years ago. He arrives on the back of a blistering front-running victory at the track on Irish Guineas weekend.

The evergreen six-year-old exploded from the stalls and never saw another rival on the way to a comfortable win by almost three lengths. However, the handicapper has had his say and nudged him up 11lb, which makes life tough for the former Scurry champion.

The healthy first prize went for export in 2018 when Intisaab scored for trainer David O'Meara and stablemate Gulliver, who will be making his 61st start, goes in search of a first course win at the sixth attempt for the Yorkshire trainer.

He was beaten a short-head by Romantic Proposal in this race last year off a mark of 103, so must have major claims on this occasion off a 4lb lower mark.

What they say

Joseph O'Brien, trainer of Speak In Colours
He's dropping in class so hopefully he will get confidence from that. He has yet to find his form this year but we're hoping he can show his old spark.

Aido McGuinness, trainer of Laugh A Minute and Is That Love
Laugh A Minute has run well in these big sprint handicaps before so we said we'd let him take his chance. The one big worry I would have is the ground. I would prefer some cut in it and I'd love a few showers but we're not going to get them. Is That Love doesn't owe anybody anything. He has a nice light weight and could run well.

Matthew Smith, trainer of Master Matt
He's been running really well since he's come back this year and I suppose you could say he was a bit unlucky in the Rockingham as Johnny's [Murtagh, Urban Beat] horse was on the other side and he had nothing to battle against. Urban Beat is a very good horse, though, and I thought that was a very good run. Sam's [Ewing] claim is a big asset and I'm hopeful of another big run.

Ken Condon, trainer of Ice Cold In Alex
He's back to form and his last two runs have been very good. It was great to see him get his head back in front after so long and he seems in very good form at home. The trip is a bit shorter than ideal but he ran very well in this race two years ago and he loves the Curragh, so we're hoping for a good run. The ground will be perfect for him.
