Improving handicapper Whatswrongwithyou will bid to continue trainer Nicky Henderson's excellent record in the race more commonly known as the Gerry Feilden.

Henderson has won three of the past ten runnings, with Fairyland (2009) and Lyvius (2012) before his most recent success with L'Ami Serge in 2014.

Whatswrongwithyou brings fine course form into the race, winning two from two at the Berkshire track before a third-place effort in the Imperial Cup on his last start – and connections are hoping he can make the most of his handicap mark before being sent chasing.

Henderson said: "He's ready to go over fences, but we've resisted the temptation because this looks a nice race for him – it just appealed to me. It looks an opportunity worth taking."

Five in a row for Ballymoy?

You have to go back to last November to find the last time the Nigel-Twiston Davies-trained Ballymoy was beaten.

The five-year-old, owned by Simon Munir and Issac Souede, has registered four consecutive victories, including a two-length win on his seasonal reappearance when sent off 6-4 favourite at Chepstow last month.

"I'm hoping he's got really good chance and bit of rain certainly doesn't worry him," Twiston-Davies said. "He ran a nice race at Chepstow last time and he should improve again from that."

Citizen looks to strike back

Trainer Ben Pauling has always held Global Citizen in high regard and will hope the talented six-year-old can build upon his seasonal reappearance at Ascot this month.

The gelding was an impressive nine length winner of the Grade 2 Dovecote at Kempton in February.

What they say

Paul Nicholls, trainer of Mont Des Avaloirs
He might have given himself a bit of a fright over fences last time and he's a big strong horse for a five-year-old so we thought we'd give him a run back over hurdles. On his best form he'd have a chance.

Henry Daly, trainer of Whatmore
Hopefully there's a lot more improvement in him but the big difference recently is that we've been able to ride him more handy. He ducked out at Exeter when making the running last year but has grown up since then.

Alan King, trainer of Lisp
I’m hoping Lisp will settle better after taking a ferocious hold when winning the Salmon Spray at Fontwell. He must be pretty smart to have won that day and shouldn’t be so fresh this time.

Oliver Sherwood, trainer of What's Occurring
He's progressive, certainly. I like the way he won his first two races and physically he's done very well during the summer. He should go on this ground and I think he's entitled to have a go at a race of this calibre.
