Warwick gets go-ahead for today's meeting, Chepstow's Saturday card called off
All racecourses in Britain and Ireland will be racing on Friday after Warwick passed an inspection this morning ahead of their eight-race card.
The Warwickshire region has been hit hard by Storm Dennis but conditions at the jump circuit are fine for racing, with the going heavy, soft in places on the chase course and heavy on the hurdles.
Jane Hedley, clerk of the course at Warwick, said: “It’s as heavy as it gets on the hurdles course and we’ve had to move a fair bit of rail. We’ve found running lines that are raceable, but have had to omit the final hurdle.
"We’ve had 40 millimetres of rain during the week, which isn’t as much as at other places. There’s no standing water, we’ve managed to negotiate any false patches, so we're good to go.”
But racing will not go ahead at Chepstow on Saturday, with the meeting abandoned due to unraceable ground.
The Welsh track have had 110ml of rain in the last six days and, with further rain forecast overnight, decided to cancel the seven-race jumps meeting.
Newcastle will inspect the track at 8am tomorrow ahead of their jumps card on Saturday.
