Wesley Ward has been relying on video footage and bulletins from Frankie Dettori to update him on Lady Aurelia, but after seeing her with his own eyes in Newmarket on Friday he announced she was ready to run "a very big race, the biggest so far".

The US filly's seven-length win in the Queen Mary Stakes and triumph in the Group 1 Prix Morny have made her the outstanding two-year-old in Europe, a standing that will undergo examination, with today's rivals including Queen Kindly and Roly Poly.

US pioneer Ward has made a habit of plundering Royal Ascot's top two-year-old prizes and as he pays his first visit to Future Champions Day acknowledged: "We're getting serious."
