Elliott: Blow By Blow hard to get fit

Gordon Elliott and Jack Kennedy enjoyed a big weekend with the trainer sending out six winners including Apple's Jade with Kennedy, who has a 25 per cent strike-rate this season, partnering five of them.

The pair will be busy at Fairyhouse on Wednesday when their runners will include triple bumper winner Blow By Blow, who will be making his hurdling debut in the 2m maiden hurdle (1.50).

The six-year-old, who was trained by Willie Mullins for his bumper wins, will be making his first appearance for Elliott having been off the track since landing a Grade 1 event at the 2016 Punchestown festival.

Elliott said: "Blow By Blow is in good form but he isn't an easy horse to get fit and, while we're hoping for a good run, he'll definitely come on a good bit for the race."

No Death Duty for Mullins novice to contend with

Cap D'Aubois will be attempting to build on a promising debut over fences when he faces eight rivals in the 2m5f beginners' chase (12.45).

A three-time winner over hurdles, the five-year-old ran the smart Death Duty to three-quarters of a length over a longer trip at Tipperary last month when he finished a long way clear of the remainder.

Trainer Willie Mullins reports Paul Townend's mount in good form ahead of his trip to Fairyhouse. "Cap D'Aubois came out of Tipperary well. He ran very well there and the winner has won again since. We think he'll do well in staying novice chases and he's in good form," Mullins said.

Rene's and Dusky set for rematch

As soon as Rene's Girl crossed the line at Worcester last month, Dan Skelton nominated the Listed mares' novice chase at Bangor (1.10) as the next target, although the seven-year-old will find conditions a bit different from then.

The ground that day was described as good to firm and Rene's Girl pinged off the surface to an 11-length victory over Dusky Legend, who reopposes in the £25,000 race Skelton won with Stephanie Frances 12 months ago.

Skelton's counterpart Alan King, who trains Dusky Legend, said: "She bumped into a decent mare of Dan's when second on ground that was really too quick for her at Worcester.

"I want to support this race as it's a valuable event and it offers black type too, though it will be competitive."

Speredek bids to continue winning run

Grand National-winning jockey Nigel Hawke enjoyed by far his best campaign as a trainer last term and will be hoping Speredek, who contributed three wins to the haul, can continue his upward groove at Exeter (1.25).

The six-year-old found his feet over fences at the start of the year, but reverts to hurdling under promising 7lb claimer James Bowen, whose older brother Sean rode six of Hawke's 28 winners last season at a 43 per strike-rate.
