Grade 1-winning bumper performer and classy novice hurdler Tornado Flyer will aim to maintain his bright start over fences, taking on four rivals in Grade 3 company at Navan.

The Willie Mullins-trained six-year-old got off the mark over fences at the first attempt last month over 2m3f at Naas when edging out Choungaya in a race that wasn't without incident, with seven of the 18 runners failing to complete.

Danny Mullins, who rides the 143-rated hurdler for the first time, said: "It was a good start over fences for him at Naas.

"He brushed up his jumping after a mistake and you'd hope he'll improve for that experience, albeit he needs to take a step forward from it."

The TFP Partnership-owned novice is priced between 25-1 and 33-1 for the Racing Post Arkle, while bet365 are a standout 50-1 about him for the JLT Novices' Chase.

Gordon Elliott is doubly represented in the race named after 1996 Queen Mother Champion Chase winner Klairon Davis and has struck in the last two runnings with Tombstone and Hardline.

The trainer said of the pair: "I was a little disappointed with Eclair De Beaufeu's run last time at Punchestown. It looked as though he stopped a bit but he seems in good form at home.

"It was a pity I'm A Game Changer came down when he did last time, it was too early to know how he'd have fared. Hopefully they both can run well."

Galway Hurdle runner-up and Killarney beginners' chase winner Due Reward will bid to bounce back from his defeat to Djingle in bottomless Roscommon ground in September.

"He seems to be in good form and has taken to fences well so far, so we're looking forward to running him," said trainer Henry de Bromhead.

Admirable 11-year-old Grand Partner completes the quintet, making his first start in almost a year for Tom Mullins.

He said: "This is a nice place to start back for him having got injured after last Christmas at Leopardstown.

"Hopefully he'll go back there again for a handicap chase later this month."
