Tonight's racing: three runners who catch the eye at Killarney and Windsor
There is plenty of racing to enjoy this evening, with Tipperary, Killarney, Windsor and Towcester staging meetings broadcast on At The Races. Here are three horses to note
There can be few older horses in training in Britain more likeable than Sovereign Debt and the popular grey looks to have been found a good opportunity to get back to winning ways by handler Ruth Carr at Windsor.
A winner of a Group 2 and a Group 3 last season, the popular grey drops back to Listed company in the mile event under James O'Sullivan and the pair look to have every chance of regaining the winning thread.
It’s been a while since Shaneshill was seen scaling a fence but the Willie Mullins-trained gelding returns to the larger obstacles in the Grade 3 chase against Ballyoisin and six other rivals.
Shaneshill, last seen finishing a credible third to Faugheen in the Grade 1 Stayers’ Hurdle at Punchestown, has not run over fences since pulling up in the John Durkan Chase in December.
His form over fences includes seconds in last summer's Galway Plate and the 2016 RSA Chase at Cheltenham and he can prove too strong for his rivals here.
Enda Bolger has a well-deserved reputation for dominating banks races but his record at Killarney stands close inspection in its own right.
The trainer's forays to the picturesque County Kerry track have been fruitful these past five years, with five wins from just 20 runners, including victory in tonight's feature Laurels Pub & Restaurant Killarney National for the past two seasons.
Those wins were achieved with Cantlow (2016) and Auvergnat, who bids to defend his crown off just 9st 12lb under Luke Dempsey.
Auvergant, fresh from landing the La Touche at Punchestown, should take some stopping on his repeat mission.
