Leading tipster Pietro Innocenzi analyses the contenders chasing Grade 1 glory
Unibet Tolworth Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1) | 2m | 4yo+ | ITV4/RTV
One look at the betting tells you this season's Unibet Tolworth Novices' Hurdle is more open than usual. The race has traditionally thrown up a clear short-priced favourite – a couple of 4-9 shots have won in recent seasons – but not this year. The three runners at the head of the betting are separated by less than a point in most bookies' lists and it's not easy to predict which of them will end up going off favourite.
It's difficult not to conclude that Fiddlerontheroof owes his place in the betting more to the fact he hails from the stable that has sent out two of the last three winners of the race than to what he achieved when comfortably making all over course and distance on his latest outing. On that occasion he was followed home by 16-1 and 33-1 shots who had been beaten further on their previous starts.
