After the razzmatazz of the Shergar Cup at Ascot it is back to bread and butter fare this evening with Lingfield (ATR, 5.10) and Ayr (RUK, 5.50) providing the Flat racing while Kilbeggan (ATR, 5.30) pitches in with the jumpers.

Overseas both Saratoga and Arlington have some top racing with the Chicago track hosting the legendary Arlington Million that has treated overseas challengers kindly in the past and has plenty of European interest again.

Greyjoy
7.10 Lingfield

This race could be one for the legions of Game Of Thrones fans as the Greyjoy clan is currently starring in the Sky Atlantic series seven storyline. This Sylvester Kirk-trained gelding is a 13-race maiden and alike his namesake Theon Greyjoy, he is a survivor but certainly not the heartiest.

Kirk has found him the right opportunity and his Racing Post Rating certainly gives him an each-way chance with apprentice Shariq Mohd having his second career ride.

An all-weather regular, Greyjoy flopped on one run on soft ground but is a son of Mastercraftsman, who has sired plenty of soft-ground performers.

8.20 Ayr

An all-the-way winner in a small field at Musselburgh yesterday afternoon, Iain Jardine travels this four-year-old across Scotland to the west coast this evening to try and defy a 6lb penalty.

Jardine keeps 7lb-claiming apprentice Jamie Gormley in the saddle and the partnership have had four winners from eight runners this month.

Punters are lukewarm on his chances as he has drifted from 7-4 from 5-4 despite two rivals coming out, including his veteran stablemate.

12.19 Arlington Park

The race is technically tomorrow morning rather than tonight but the famous Arlington Million is worth staying up for with Deauville the headline act for Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore.

Lurking in the wings is Frankie Dettori on the Al Shaqab-owned Mekhtaal, who has not been seen to best effect this year. The Sea The Stars colt was not disgraced in what has turned out to be a strong running of the Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Neither Moore or Dettori have won the Arlington Million before, but they will both will be keen to join the likes of Danny Tudhope (who won on Mondialiste last year), Jamie Spencer, William Buick, Kieren Fallon, Tony Ives and Pat Eddery.
