Three horses who will relish cut in the ground at Ascot
The going at Ascot has changed to good to soft at Ascot and here are three runners who should enjoy some give underfoot.
Prince Of Harts
2.25 Ascot
Third on the round course at Ascot last time out on good to firm ground, Prince Of Harts will be at home on good to soft over the straight mile.
Prior to his Ascot run he was victorious on good to soft at Nottingham, and he was also second on soft ground at the same venue earlier this season.
Last Saturday was a big day for the Rod Millman team with two winners at Newbury, including Super Sprint hero Bettys Hope. Prince Of Harts could keep the yard's good form going.
Raising Sand
3.00 Ascot
Now the rain has come, so has the support for course specialist Raising Sand.
From 11 previous runs at the course, the Jamie Osborne-trained seven-year-old has three wins, and two thirds.
His most recent victory came over course and distance last October on soft ground and he has been backed into favouritism for the valuable Moet & Chandon International Stakes.
Lariat
5.20 Ascot
While all ground seems to come alike to the consistent Lariat, it is worth noting his one win to date came on soft.
Runner-up on all four starts this season, the Andrew Balding-trained three-year-old was second on soft ground twice at Chester in that sequence and might be able to go one better this afternoon.
