This evening's meeting: three runners who catch the eye at Salisbury

Salisbury’s twilight fixture has been saved after the course had to abandon action earlier in the week due to loose ground caused by chafer grubs. All the races are on the straight course for this meeting, and here are three horses to keep an eye on . . .

Jash
4.00 Salisbury

It is that exciting time of year when two-year-olds could be anything and the big end-of-season targets loom large.

Jash was well backed before his debut at Newmarket and justified support in bolting up by four and a half lengths, albeit giving the odd flick of his tail in the process.

He holds an entry in the Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket later this month, and the Group 1 assignment could well be on the cards if he backs up his debut effort with another impressive display.

Feel Glorious
5.40 Salisbury

This could be the acid test for Feel Glorious, who appeared to leave her previous form miles behind when capturing a maiden at Glorious Goodwood at 125-1.

Her three runs to date have earned her a handicap mark of 81, which looks perfectly reasonable on her performance at Goodwood and the form of those she beat.

However, given her price at Goodwood there is the lingering doubt there was some fluke about the performance. This race should tell us a great deal more.

Raid
7.10 Salisbury

Salisbury’s card finishes on an undoubted high with a really classy conditions race being run in the concluding contest.

Raid looked a hugely exciting horse in the spring, pulling too hard when fourth in the Greenham Stakes but then running a cracker to be eighth, beaten five and a half lengths in the 2,000 Guineas behind Saxon Warrior.

Back from a break, he ran below par at Goodwood last time in fifth but can be forgiven one bad run. However, with the classy Foxtrot Lady and Nebo in opposition he will need to be in much better form this evening.
