Godolphin dominated proceedings on Newbury's Lockinge Day on Saturday with breathtaking victories for both Hawkbill (Aston Park Stakes) and Ribchester in the Group 1 itself and they're represented in the Group 3 Lacken Stakes at Naas today in the shape of Virtudes, but he looks to have it all to do to fend off Phoenix Stakes winner Caravaggio.

The unbeaten Ballydoyle-owned colt returns to the track after a 287 day layoff to tackle eight rivals in the 6f feature and will have to shoulder a 6lb penalty after recording victories at Group 1 and 2 level last season.

His return has been eagerly anticipated with connections bypassing both the English and French 2,000 Guineas – due to stamina doubts – to come here instead.

Ballydoyle are also represented by Whitecliffsofdover earlier on the card in the Listed Owenstown Stud Stakes, where this year's Free Handicap winner faces nine rivals. He looks sure to be sent off a warm favourite and bids to become the first winner of the race for Aidan O'Brien since Reply in 2013.

Over the Irish Sea and Sally Haynes has her first runner as a licensed trainer having taken over from Alan Swinbank after he passed away last week. Shulammite Man makes his debut over hurdles in the opener at Market Rasen for the trainer after eight lacklustre performances on the Flat.

One horse that certainly hasn't being putting in lacklustre performances is the Dan Skelton-trained Too Many Diamonds, who looks to make it four wins from as many races in eight days.

Despite carrying 21lb more than for his first victory last Sunday, he still looks very well handicapped and favourite backers will be hoping his exertions don't take their toll.
