Over the duration of 100 years, you’d imagine a traditional Classic like the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas would have borne witness to most eventualities, but the centenary running of the Curragh race has the potential for a landmark or two.

Over the past five decades, the legacy of the mile Group 1 has been to confirm the prowess of an exceptional Newmarket victor.

In 1969, Right Tack became the first 2,000 Guineas hero to follow up in the Irish version, and eight more have followed, with illustrious names like Tirol, Rodrigo De Triano, Rock Of Gibraltar and Henrythenavigator among the octet.
