Aidan O'Brien likely to have a big say in the Group 1s at Newmarket this week and the Ballydoyle maestro seeks to warm up for the battles ahead by targeting Pattern success at Cork.

North Face looks to maintain his unbeaten record in the 1m1/2f Listed Navigation Stakes (3.05) but he faces a stern examination on his second start against some battle-hardened sorts, including Ship Of Dreams and Zorion.

In Britain, Kempton plays host to an eight-race card this evening and the conditions event (8.10) looks particularly strong for the grade.

Among the contenders is Phoenix Thoroughbreds' Lansky who was a smart juvenile last season, finishing third in the Acomb and fourth in the Mill Reef. He makes his first start for Robert Cowell after leaving Jeremy Noseda.

Noseda looks to field the main danger in the shape of the 108-rated Cenotaph, who has found some 23lb of improvement in racking up a Chelmsford hat-trick this season.

There is also Flat action at Nottingham this afternoon and jumps fans have a double helping of fixtures at Ludlow and Southwell.
