Racegoers and participants at Perth will get the chance to sample the best atmosphere at a Scottish racecourse this year on Saturday after coronavirus restrictions were eased by the government this month.

Up to 5,000 people will be able to make their way into Perth which, perhaps appropriately given the celebratory nature of crowds returning to the course in more significant numbers, is hosting a day backed by Edinburgh Gin.

Saturday’s fixture is one of only five remaining at Perth this year, and chief executive Hazel Peplinski has urged anyone keen to come racing to do so with the track’s finances taking a battering during lockdown and racing behind closed doors.
