Beacon Edge absence could open the door for The Bosses Oscar to score

The withdrawal of Stayers Hurdle fourth Beacon Edge on Monday morning makes this a much more open contest than it looked originally and it could open the door for The Bosses Oscar to end a frustrating sequence of seconds.

The chances are we have not seen the best of The Bosses Oscar yet. He has only had nine starts in his career and just once has he finished out of the first two. That was in the 2020 Martin Pipe when he was cursed with bad luck.

He arrives on the back of a fine second to Mrs Milner in the Pertemps Final and seems to be improving with every start.

The slight concern for The Bosses Oscar is that he has looked a thorough stayer over three miles and there is the prospect of him getting tapped for toe should it turn into a sprint.

That said, he won his bumper over 2m at Thurles and his maiden hurdle success at Leopardstown came over this trip so he ought to have sufficient tactical speed to cope with the extra emphasis on pace.

One not fully exposed yet is French Dynamite. He is only six and justified odds-on favouritism in the manner you would have expected at Leopardstown last time. Two starts earlier he got within half a length of Sire Du Berlais in a Grade 2 at Navan. The talent is there and, now that he is more experienced, he could show us all what he is made of.

Stormy Ireland is back with Willie Mullins, but she has something to prove now as does stablemate Scarpeta.

He's coming back in trip, but I don't think that will be much of an issue. He had a lovely run in the Pertemps at Cheltenham under a big weight. The ratings would entitle him to be running in competitive races like this and he should run well.
