Stand by for the sequel - but it's not just about Shishkin and Energumene
Rare but wonderful are those times when the sequel is even better than the original.
Some film buffs will tell you Arnie's second Terminator was superior to his first and that Aliens trumped Alien in its unleashing of terror. The cinema cognoscenti also appears to largely agree that The Godfather Part II was even more absorbing than its acclaimed older brother. Sport, like movies, affords the chance to reinvent the extraordinary, which is what happens on day two at Cheltenham. We await an epic on turf.
Nicky Henderson, too jovial to be a Godfather figure, has directed the top-of-the-bill superstar in a Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase that has been talked of as the highlight of this Cheltenham Festival since racing fans were left exhilarated by Ascot's January showdown between Shishkin and Energumene.
