Smart Abingdon makes long-awaited return on quicker ground

The ground ended any chance of Abingdon contesting the Lancashire Oaks earlier in the summer but connections are now hopeful Newmarket's good-to-firm going will help her extend her unbeaten run to three.

The Sir Michael Stoute-trained filly has won both of her starts at three, most recently taking a ten-furlong Listed contest at Newbury in June.

Abingdon now steps up a further couple of furlongs in the British Stallion Studs EBF Chalice Stakes, and it is a prospect her Ballymacoll Stud owners have been relishing since that Newbury success.
