Sir Henry, champagne and high fashion - it must be the July festival
The key characteristics of Newmarket's big summer jamboree
Colour crazy
Gone is the formality and ceremony of Royal Ascot - at the July meeting you can expect a garden party feel and, with the weather forecast set fair, there is sure to be an array of dashing outfits to be paraded in the spirit of the meeting's tag line, 'summer at its best'. There are more than £30,000 of prizes up for grabs as part of the meeting's style awards, with the best dressed lady award today, the best dressed man crowned tomorrow and the best dressed couple honoured on Saturday, with a holiday to Mauritius on offer for the Saturday fashionistas.

The late trainer had an excellent record at the meeting, winning the Falmouth Stakes three times and enjoying a record-breaking nine wins in the Superlative Stakes.
