'She loves it fast and it's a good opportunity' - trainer quotes and analysis

Running to a three-figure Racing Post Rating has been the requirement to land the Pipalong Stakes in nine of the last ten years and four of the fillies in the field have hit those heights recently.

Dubai Love and Rising Star have posted their figures in high-quality handicaps, and in a normal fillies' Listed race they would still have major claims. However, Roman Mist and Thunder Beauty are proven Group-level operators dropping in class and they are the two to focus on.

Thunder Beauty dips from Group 2 company having run exceptionally in the Duke of Cambridge when second to a proper Group 1 filly in Saffron Beach. However, a few of the protagonists failed to fire and perhaps she was flattered by her proximity to the winner.

Mother Earth disappointed and was subsequently retired, while Bashkirova never travelled and was flat out to finish fifth. She probably found the run coming too soon having landed the Group 3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes 11 days earlier.

Roman Mist, who was third in the Princess Elizabeth, is also bang there and managed to beat My Astra two starts ago. My Astra bolted up by 12 lengths at Ayr next time and almost landed the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh recently.

Roman Mist's Epsom third was a joint career-best on RPRs and proves she remains in excellent form. She travelled powerfully into the contest that day and will not be inconvenienced by dropping half a furlong in trip.

She's been consistent and ran very well at Epsom. We're going there with a nice chance and hopefully we can pick up some more black type – she shouldn't be far away. She's in great form at home, and although the favourite is coming back off a strong run at Ascot, the fact we chose to miss the meeting will give her that little bit of freshness the favourite doesn't have.

She put in a great performance first time out this season at Chester. She was a little bit disappointing at Royal Ascot – we thought she'd run better than that but a few things on the day didn't go our way. She can go on any ground and the target is to try to get some black type for her. She's not ideally drawn from stall nine and it's a competitive race, so we'll roll the dice and see.

She's in good shape and her last run was her best form. She loves fast ground and it's a good opportunity. We always said after Ascot we wanted to try to get some black type and this race fits in quite well. I would have preferred a little more time after Ascot but she's a tough filly and on ratings hopefully she is thereabouts.

She had a very good race at Royal Ascot. She was no match for Saffron Beach but finished a good second and has a nice draw for tomorrow. Danny [Tudhope] rides her again, which is a positive. She seemed in good form and on ratings she should be competitive.
