If the organisers of British Champions Day had the freedom to choose their dream line-ups for the meeting's tenth anniversary they might well have been similar to the ones at Ascot on Saturday.

The fixture has always had a great record of attracting the finest equine talent and they do not come any finer than the indomitable Frankel, whose commanding four-length success in the 2011 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes put the inaugural Champions Day on the map.

His victory on his final start in the Champion Stakes the following year was the perfect end to his career and provided the Ascot marketing team with yet more ammunition to sell the day to a wider audience.
