The nature of the Shergar Cup is new relationships are forged and existing ones are temporarily broken. Bookmakers believe that this inevitable aspect of the sport's only team event will work against Martin Harley in the afternoon's third race.

Harley was aboard Ruwasi for the James Tate-trained five-year-old's two wins this summer at Doncaster and Newmarket, where he most recently ran away with a three-runner contest. On this occasion, though, Harley has been allocated Mistiroc, leaving Ruwasi to be ridden by a rather able deputy called Frankie Dettori.
