Galway Plate favourite Galvin ruled out with bruised foot
Galway Plate favourite Galvin has been scratched from the race after it was discovered he had a bruised foot on arrival at the track.
The Gordon Elliott-trained six-year-old was a best-priced 9-2 and as short as 7-2 for the now 21-runner 2m6½f Tote-sponsored Grade A handicap chase.
Elliott tweeted: "Unfortunately Galvin is now a non runner in the Plate this evening due to a bruised foot, which we discovered when he arrived at Galway. He’s fine and he’ll be back on track very soon."
The Willie Mullins-trained and Paul Townend-ridden Royal Rendezvous is the new favourite, while Elliott still has four chances to land the €200,000 pot with Three Musketeers, The Big Lense, The Storyteller and Dinons.
Betfair Sportsbook are refunding all ante-post bets on Galvin.
