Rishi Persad, Keith Melrose and Graeme Rodway join the Saturday Jury
Jamie Piggott and James Knight also give their thoughts
Are you daring to go after Pinatubo in the Dewhurst?
James Knight, Coral trader Pinatubo should win this but it wouldn’t surprise me if he, like Frankel back in 2010, was more workmanlike than spectacular – with softer going and the tricky Dip to navigate. It’s great Aidan O’Brien has sent a proper squad of horses to take him on and I think Wichita will give Pinatubo something to think about.
Keith Melrose, Betting editor He’s extremely hard to oppose, but the way the Ballydoyle squad is lining up suggests they have a plan and it probably involves trying to stretch Pinatubo’s stamina, which I think will ultimately prove the likeliest way to get him beat. Wichita is a stayer, relatively speaking at least, and if it comes up testing an each-way bet on him might be as safe a conveyance.
Rishi Persad, Broadcaster Pinatubo is a worthy favourite, but I think Wichita is a very exciting horse. He’s got a lovely relaxed manner and travelled kindly over course and distance last time out so I expect him to make Pinatubo stretch at least. Wichita in the ‘without Pinatubo’ market for me.
