Red-hot Cheltenham Gold Cup favourite A Plus Tard should get the job done
Tuesday: 2.20 Leopardstown
Savills Chase (Grade 1) | 3m | 5yo+ | ITV4/RTE/RTV
And, just like that, the Cheltenham Gold Cup appears to be A Plus Tard's to lose. He is now as short as 7-4 with a few firms to go one better than he did in March and it is 10-1 bar after stablemate Minella Indo was pulled up in the King George. Just how short will A Plus Tard be if he wins this handsomely?
He certainly won the Betfair Chase handsomely. It was extremely easy on the eye as he eased clear of Royale Pagaille up the Haydock home straight. In the end he had 22 lengths to spare over his nearest pursuer and it earned him an RPR of 180. The handicapper nudged him up only 2lb to a mark of 174 but that still means he has 9lb or more in hand over his rivals here.
