Will this trip suit Veracious?
Veracious is dropped in trip in a bid to get her head in front in a race her trainer Sir Michael Stoute and owners Cheveley Park Stud won twice with Echelon over a decade ago.
The four-year-old filly scored over a mile when landing the Atalanta Stakes at Sandown in September but came unstuck on her reappearance over an extra furlong at Newmarket in May.
Not done any favours by a long delay at the start that day, Veracious looked dangerous two furlongs out but weakened out of it to finish fourth of five behind Worth Waiting in the Dahlia Stakes.
Veracious, who usually wears a hood in the preliminaries but not the race itself, has the added obstacle of having to carry a 3lb penalty for her Group 3 success and Antara was the last to defy such a burden in 2010.
Stoute said: "Veracious is in good shape at home and we're hoping she runs well but we're just trying to ascertain her best trip at the moment."
Can Awesome confirm Goodwood form?
Awesometank had three reopposing rivals behind her when scoring on her reappearance in Listed company at Goodwood and bids to register a first win at Group level.
The four-year-old may have idled in front when holding off Anna Nerium that day with Vivianite in third and Akvavera back in seventh.
Awesometank is fitted with cheekpieces for the first time to help her concentrate.
Trainer William Haggas said: "Awesometank has won two Listed races and this looks the right race for her to go up a level.
"She has the cheekpieces on as she may have idled in front last time and we're hopeful she will be competitive again although Veracious will probably be hard to beat."
Could Anna Nerium strike this time?
Anna Nerium chased home Wilamina when second in this £90,000 contest last year and aims to go one better for Richard Hannon.
She escapes a penalty for victory in Group 3 company at Goodwood in August and is the mount of Tom Marquand.
Can we expect a bold bid from Nyaleti?
Nyaleti is another dropping back in trip after finishing fourth in the Middleton over 1m2½f at York last time with connections trying to find her best distance as she bids to register a first win in over a year.
The Mark Johnston-trained filly has recorded placed efforts at the top level on her travels during that time and had Veracious in behind when chasing home Worth Waiting at Newmarket on her return.
What they say
Hughie Morrison, trainer of Bella Ragazza
She'll definitely come on for her last run at Ascot. She had to have a flu jab ten days before that, which probably knocked her back. She's got to step up and maybe we're aiming a bit high, but she's got it in her to be competitive.
Roger Varian, trainer of Contrive
She's trying her hand in Group company for the first time but ran an absolute stormer last time in a valuable handicap at Ascot where she was beaten a short head. On ratings she has quite a bit to find but she remains on the upgrade, so it will be fascinating to see how she fares.
