YOU know that song ‘It’s Oh So Quiet’ by Bjork - the one where she whispers to a background of gentle music before it explodes with a chorus of trumpets and she starts belting out a tune at the top of her voice? Well, that is a bit what today is like.

With the Ebor festival at York next week, a fair few eyes are looking beyond this supposed quiet weekend. But before they get the chance to they will be stopped in their tracks by a blast of quality racing and intrigue aplenty up and down Britain and across the Atlantic today.

Kings Fete certainly drew plenty of attention at Glorious Goodwood, as he avoided the traffic problems that scuppered his chances of victory at Royal Ascot to win the Glorious Stakes. Trainer Sir Michael Stoute called the performance “pretty special”, which is praise indeed from the ten-time champion, and another special performance in the Betfred Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury might have Stoute thumbing through the international programme book for some big races this autumn for the five-year-old.
