Peterborough and the return of some famous colours welcome features on a big day

Two unexpected sights will greet racegoers returning to Cheltenham on Friday in the form of a saved race and a resurrected set of silks.

Cheltenham’s card has been bolstered by the Grade 2 Fitzdares Peterborough Chase, which had originally been lost when Huntingdon was cancelled last weekend due to flooding, while for those of a nostalgic bent the colours made famous by Sea Pigeon will be making a welcome return.

The rearranged Peterborough Chase was momentarily considered for last week’s Tingle Creek absentee Altior, but his aim is firmly set on the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton over Christmas and trainer Nicky Henderson is more than adequately represented on Friday in any case.
