Celtic Swing owner Peter Savill says Pinatubo looks the real deal

Pinatubo, the red-hot favourite for the Darley Dewhurst Stakes, has the potential to be the heir not only to outstanding juvenile of the 1990s Celtic Swing but also Enable as racing’s next superstar figurehead.

That is the view of Celtic Swing’s owner Peter Savill, who believes Pinatubo can capture the imagination of the public if he continues to produce scintillating performances similar to his runaway nine-length victory in the Group 1 Vincent O’Brien National Stakes last time.

That performance put him on an official mark of 128 – a higher rating than Frankel achieved at two – and just 2lb below Celtic Swing’s legendary 130 figure, which was earned with a 12-length triumph in the 1994 Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster and which has not been bettered by a two-year-old since.
