Pam Sly returns to the scene of her greatest triumph in the 1,000 Guineas of 2006 armed with her Classic winner Speciosa’s granddaughter Eileendover, who gets a handy 5lb from her all male rivals.

The four-year-old was a triple bumper winner last winter and has switched codes to the Flat primarily to get some black type, something she achieved on her latest start at Doncaster when fourth in the Group 2 Park Hill Stakes.

Before that, Eileendover showed she enjoyed the Newmarket undulations when landing a 1m6f handicap on the neighbouring July course and has looked as if two miles would pose no problems.

Sly said: “Eileendover is getting a 5lb allowance which will be a great help as some of the other races she’s run in she’s been giving some of them 10lb.

"She’s not built to carrying big weights, which she would have to if she was in another handicap, but she ran well at Doncaster last time when she shaped as if this step up to two miles would suit her.”

Sly added: “I hope the ground doesn’t dry out too much but there’s nothing else for her after this, so we thought we’d give it a try. She’s a well-balanced filly who should handle the track as she handled the July course. Whatever happens, the plan is to keep her in training next year.”

What they say

Heather Main, trainer of Island Brave
He’s back up in grade but we think he’s capable and it would suit him if the ground continued to dry out. We’ve booked Ryan Moore and it’s the first time he’s ridden for us, which is exciting, and he expressed an interest in riding him.

Alastair Donald, racing manager to King Power, owners of Morando
We hope the ground doesn’t dry out too much for him, but he’s down in grade and showed all his enthusiasm at Chester last time. We expect the demanding two miles to suit him.

Bruce Raymond, racing manager to Mohamed Obaida, owner of Nayef Road
He showed a glimmer of his old self when third in the Doncaster Cup last time and this is a drop in class. He looks to have every chance if he runs up to that level and he’s a previous course winner, so we know he’ll handle the track.

Stuart Williams, trainer of Rhythmic Intent
The owner was very keen to have a crack at this after his win in a handicap at Doncaster last time and there isn’t much else for him, so we thought we’d give it a go. Obviously, he has a bit to find on the figures, but Hollie Doyle keeps the ride and I expect him to run well.
