Walk In The Mill1.30 Aintree
William Hill Becher Handicap Chase (Grade 3), 3m2f

The Robert Walford-trained ten-year-old is out to make history by becoming the first three-time winner of a race that was instituted in 1992. He has won in good style under James Best for the last two years and also proved his effectiveness over these fences when fourth in the Grand National – the first British horse home – in 2019. As in the last two seasons, he has had one prep run, but he is 8lb higher than when scoring 12 months ago.

Allmankind1.50 SandownPlanteur At Chapel Stud Henry VIII Novices' Chase (Grade 1), 2m

The first Grade 1 novice event of the season looks well up to scratch, with the six runners having won all their nine chases between them. The one to beat is Allmankind, a Grade 1 winner last winter who subsequently took third in the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham. He won most impressively over fences at Warwick last month and gets a 6lb four-year-olds' allowance.

2.05 Aintree

Alan King makes a point of targeting this Listed fillies' event and has won it three times in eight years, most recently with Midnights' Gift 12 months ago. He has not been able to get a prep run into this year's candidate, Her Indoors, due to a minor setback, but the trainer is full of hope for the three-year-old. She has been progressing well on the Flat and finished second off a career-high mark at Chelmsford in October.

Politologue
2.25 Sandown
Betfair Tingle Creek Chase (Grade 1), 2m

Politologue made the most of Altior's absence when successful in the Champion Chase in March and, with Nicky Henderson announcing Altior as a non-runner last night, Politologue takes over as favourite. A winner of this contest in 2017, the nine-year-old is one of two for Paul Nicholls and is looking to capture his fourth top-level prize.

Santini
2.40 Aintree
William Hill Many Clouds Chase (Grade 2), 3m1f

Santini returns to the scene of his only Grade 1 win, achieved in the Sefton Novices' Hurdle here in 2018. He has gone close in the highest company several times since, most notably when keeping on dourly up the run-in in the Cheltenham Gold Cup last March and failing by just a neck to catch Al Boum Photo. He is ridden by Jerry McGrath for the first time since winning a Grade 2 novice hurdle at Cheltenham in January 2018.

3.00 Sandown
Betfair Exchange Back And Lay London National Handicap Chase, 3m5f

A fortnight after winning the Ladbrokes Trophy Chase with Cloth Cap, Trevor Hemmings bids to land another big staying chase with Cloudy Glen. Twice a faller last season, this Venetia Williams-trained seven-year-old looked to thrive for the step up to a marathon trip in the Southern National at Fontwell on his reappearance, scoring by a comfortable 13 lengths. Though he's 11lb higher in the weights here, he's unexposed as an out-and-out stayer.

Modus
3.15 Aintree
William Hill Grand Sefton Handicap Chase, 2m5f

Paul Nicholls has won this race over a circuit of the Grand National course three times in the last seven years and is confident that Modus will be up to the unique challenge. The JP McManus-owned chaser won comfortably over the Mildmay course last month.

Mister Coffey
3.35 Sandown
Betfair Exchange December Handicap Hurdle (Listed), 2m

Nicky Henderson has won this three times in the last eight years and his Mister Coffey is very much a horse on the up. Bought for £340,000 after landing a bumper for Harry Whittington in 2019, he won the first of his two hurdles as a novice last term and scored very comfortably on his handicap debut over this course and distance last month.
