O'Brien double-handed in Listed event Capri won 12 months ago
6.55 Tipperary
Coolmore Ivawood Stakes (Listed) | 7½f, 2yo | ATR
A field on nine, eight of them winners plus newcomer Rue d'Antibes, go to post for a race that was won 12 months ago by this year's Irish Derby winner Capri.
This time Capri's trainer Aidan O'Brien relies on two fillies - Ballet Shoes, a winner over a mile at the Curragh, and Easter Lily, winner of a 7f maiden at Leopardstown before finishing last of five behind stablemate Happily in a Group 3 at that same track where she fulfilled a pacemaking role.
O'Brien said yesterday: "Ballet Shoes showed good improvement from her first run to win nicely at the Curragh. She seems in good form and so does Easter Lily, who will probably be ridden more patiently than last time."
Ger Lyons, successful in the race in 2014 and 2015, is represented by Lethal Steps, who made it two from two when scoring by six lengths over a mile at last month's Killarney festival.
The Gordon Elliott-trained Monkeylou is hooded for the first time having won on his debut at Listowel in June.
Elliott said yesterday: "He's in good form but will need to have improved from his Listowel win. The way he won there you'd think he should get the longer trip. If he's placed, we'll be happy. He was a bit keen and that's why we're putting a hood on."
Jim Bolger's Strike For Freedom has competed in small-runner fields on his two starts, winning a four-runner maiden at the Curragh in June before finishing second to Camelback in a three- runner event at Naas last month.
Mattymolls Gaga, who won over 7f at Leopardstown on his second start, represents Jessica Harrington, who said : "He came out of Leopardstown really well. It looks a hot contest and we're just hoping he performs well."
The Patrick Prendergast-trained Red Persian and Johnny Murtagh's 5f winner Guessthebill, who finished last of five in the Group 3 Anglesey Stakes at the Curragh on his most recent start, complete the line-up.
