Murphy places confidence in stable star Pairofbrowneyes for Grade 3 chase

Would there be a more deserving winner of the Grade 3 We Show All Live Racing Chase (4.20) at Naas this afternoon than Pairofbrowneyes? Probably not.

The eight-year-old has been out of the money just once in his last 10 starts and has been a flagbearer for Barry John Murphy, who believes the stars are beginning to align and predicts a bold show from the son of Luso on Sunday afternoon.

"He's long overdue a win and I think he's the one to beat," Murphy said.

"He has the most fantastic attitude. He was just a little bit flat when he ran behind Ball D'Arc in the Dan Moore last time so soon after a good run at Cheltenham.

"He's not really a good ground horse and he will get his favoured conditions here. The long-term plan is the Grand Annual at Cheltenham but we will try and win this first.”

Standing in his way is Alisier D'Irlande who likes to go from the front and Henry de Bromhead couldn’t be happier with the Roger Brookhouse-owned course and distance winner.

De Bromhead said: “It looks a good race but he’s very well and we are looking forward to a good run from him.”

Micky Hammond makes a rare trip across the Irish Sea with Just Cameron and on his best form he should also make his presence felt.

Gordon Elliott gives the green light to Clarcam, who seems to be rocking up to every party he’s invited to of late, and his trainer said: "He's turned a corner recently and has been a bit of a legend for us.

"He has been kept busy in big handicaps and got a deserved win at Clonmel recently before running well in defeat at Gowran. If he got another bit of prize-money we'd be happy with him.”

Elliott has a very strong hand in the Woodlands 100 Club Nas Na Riogh Novice Handicap Chase (3.20) with both Space Cadet and General Principle set to relish the testing ground.

He said: “Space Cadet is in great form with himself at the minute. He didn't jump great at Leopardstown the last time but he has schooled well since and he will like the soft ground. General Principle will also like the ground. He has plenty of experience and I'd expect a good run from him.”

Fellow Gigginstown-owned chaser Catalaunian Fields has a lovely racing weight, and with Andrew Ring claiming a further 3lb off his back, Mouse Morris is hopeful of a good run.

He said: “I've been happy with how he's been running lately and he would have to have a nice little chance. He should run well.”
