Mullins: Renneti faces a tough task against the three-year-olds

Renneti, a versatile performer with three wins on the Flat and three over hurdles, makes his first start of the season in this Listed event in which the Willie Mullins-trained eight-year-old faces ten rivals.

Chris Hayes rides Renneti for the first time since partnering him to a 14-length win in the Naas October Handicap last year. Mullins said on Sunday: "Renneti is in good order but it will be a tough task for him having to give weight to the three-year-olds [Act Of Valour and Exemplar]."

John Oxx has trained five of the 11 winners of this event, which was first run in 2006, including Red Stars 12 months ago. He is represented by Flying Fairies, who finished fourth in the Group 3 Munster Oaks over this trip at Cork on her most recent start.

Flying Fairies will be renewing rivalry with Glamorous Approach and Sea Swift, who finished third and sixth respectively in the Cork race.

Dermot Weld, trainer of Sea Swift, said: "She's a consistent filly and we're hoping she can earn some more black type. She does appreciate ease in the ground."

The ground was described as good, good to yielding on Sunday and Dermot McLoughlin, trainer of Dragon Fei, is hoping conditions might ease rather than dry out for the in-foal seven-year-old, who has won twice this season.

He said: "We have only about month left with Dragon Fei and she's in very good form. But the ground will be very important. Hopefully, it won't dry out. If it does then she might not run."

Michael O'Callaghan, trainer of Act Of Valour, said: "He was a good second in a handicap at the Curragh last time when taking on older horses. He came out of the race well and we're hoping for a very good run."

Exemplar, winner of a mile at Galway last season and who finished eight in the Dante Stakes on his only start this year, represents Aidan O'Brien.
