McEntee expecting Gentlemen to do the honourable thing

Gentlemen enjoyed his one visit to Dundalk so much that trainer Phil McEntee has decided to bring him back for more.

The six-year-old finished fourth behind Chiclet in a hot 5f handicap last July but is 2lb lower now and running over a furlong further, so connections have every right to be hopeful of a bold showing.

The home challenge is spearheaded by the Darren Bunyan-trained Grey Danube, who bounced back to winning ways with an all-the-way victory over seven furlongs last month but has stall eight to overcome here.

The ex-Richard Fahey-trained Patrick was also a winner last time out, giving rookie trainer Richard O'Brien his second success, and he will have plenty of supporters despite an 8lb hike.

Another who came home in front on her last visit to Dundalk is Oneoveryou, trained by Stephen Mahon. Indeed, she has won two of her last three starts at the venue at odds of 28-1 and 9-1.

We've had our eye on the race. He went over there last year and finished fourth – he ran an absolute blinder – over five furlongs and we're limited with races for him in Britain because six furlongs is his ideal trip. He ran a blinder behind Pretend three outings ago but went to Lingfield for his penultimate start and the track didn't suit him. We're expecting a big run. Josephine Gordon won five on him last year and gets on really well with him. She's on fire at the moment so we're looking forward to it.

It was brilliant to see him back to winning ways last time. He seems back to himself now. The problem here is he has a tricky draw in a trappy race. Even so, we're hopeful of a big run.

He goes there in good form and we're hoping for the best. He usually runs his race and, if he gets a bit of luck, he should be there or thereabouts again.

David Marnane, trainer of Split The Atom
I made the mistake of taking the blinkers off him last time, which I shouldn't have done, and they are back on now. He deserves to win one of these but it looks another competitive race.
