Group 1-winning sprinters Battaash and Margot Did have taken this race en route to bigger things in recent seasons, and Leodis Dream bids to translate handicap form to a higher level for David O'Meara.

A five-race winning streak was halted last time out when facing older horses for the first time at York, but prior to that run, Leodis Dream was well and truly on the upgrade.

Explaining the York outing, O'Meara said: "He anticipated the start and headbutted the stalls and had a nosebleed. He missed the break by a long way and it was a disaster but he's fine again."

A previous course and distance winner, Leodis Dream has plenty in his favour as he bids to return to winning ways, and O'Meara added: "He's well drawn and won on slow ground at Chester so I'm hoping that won't inconvenience him."

Tate tuning up for Royal Ascot

Haddaf won this race last year for James Tate, who is heading into Royal Ascot with two live chances.

While Invincible Army heads the market for the Diamond Jubilee and New Graduate is favourite for the Hunt Cup, Wise Words is one of the outsiders for the Scurry Stakes.

The filly has won her last two starts, and while this race will require more, Tate said: "She faces a stiff task however she's a filly in form. David Allan, who rode her last time, told me he thought she'd appreciate cut in the ground so I'm testing his theory.

"If she could get in the first three that would be fantastic."

Another course and distance win for Well Done Fox?

Last season Well Done Fox won the Listed Dragon Stakes at the track, and the colt returns to the track bidding to improve on his seasonal reappearance when last of seven behind Calyx at Ascot.

A busy juvenile campaign provided three wins, including two at Listed level, as well as a brace of second-placed efforts in Group company.

Trainer Richard Hannon said: "He’s a colt with plenty of ability who has a lot of speed. The ground is a slight concern but he will definitely strip fitter for his Ascot outing and his work has been very good."

What they say

Jim Crowley, jockey for El Guanche
He will handle the cut in the ground and that gives me hope he can run a nice race and be involved in the finish.

Stuart Williams, trainer of Street Parade
He's never run on soft ground before and I don't know if he'll handle it. There weren't many other options for him, he's in very good form and has a good jockey [Jason Watson] on board.

Michael Attwater, trainer of The Cruising Lord
He ran a bit flat at Newbury last time so he's had a good break as we felt that might have come a bit too soon after Ascot. We're not certain if he'll handle the soft ground. He's in very good form and has every chance of going close on his best form, the ground is the question mark.
